61 Crit Songs is Andy Brink and Jake Arthur, two former college roommates and multi-instrumentalists with a passion for music making. With nearly two decades of combined experience in audio engineering and music theory, they strive to write pieces that can express complex ideas through simple storytelling and music.
A graduate of the University of Rochester’s Audio & Music Engineering program, Andy is an accomplished guitar player and audio engineer, having previously worked for American heavy metal band Manowar. He maintains a regular schedule writing, producing, and performing music all over New England. His musical influences include Bruce Springsteen, Otis Redding, and Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
Jake is a PhD student in music theory at the University of Michigan specializing in music and text interactions in American popular music. He has written for and played in numerous bands and pit orchestras throughout New England and the Midwest. His musical influences include Randy Newman, John Hiatt, and Tom Waits.
